Wild Rice

Wild rice tastes a bit nutty smoky. It is a great base for grain bowls or for stuffing.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup wild rice makes 3 cups cooked
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  • Take 1 cup wild rice in a sieve and rinse it under running water.
    Soak it in a pan for 30 mins in 3 cups of water.
    Drain the water after 30 mins.
    Add 4 cups water to the pan for cooking.
    Place on medium flame in a pan, uncovered.
    Check in 15 mins and taste a few grains, they should be soft.
    If not let it cook for 5 more mins.

    Drain the excess water by sieving.
    Cover the pan and let stand for 10 mins.
    Fluff with a fork and it is ready for use.
